Bravecto Plus is a veterinary medicine for cats that offers protection against mixed infestation of puces, Tiques, and vers du cœur that live on cats' bodies. The major constituents of this medicine are fluralaner and moxidectin. Fluralaner kills fleas before they lay eggs, while Moxidectine kills parasites present on the body of animals. These include roundworms, hookworms, and heartworms.
Benefits of Bravecto Plus
Bravecto Plus for cats is specifically used in the following cases:
To treat tick and flea infestations. (It can also be part of a treatment strategy for flea allergy dermatitis)
To treat ear mites infestations
To treat heartworm infestation
To treat roundworms and hookworms infestation in the digestive tract or stomach.
How Is Bravecto Plus Used?
The medicine comes as a spot-on treatment solution in a pipette. The medicine is available in different strengths for cats of different body weights. For easy application, the content of the Bravecto Plus is applied on the cat’s skin just at the base of the skull.
Bravecto Plus attacks fleas and ticks within 48 hours, and the medicine continues to be effective against these feline parasites lasting up to 12 weeks after application. In severe cases, the medicine can be readministered every eight weeks.
A visit to the veterinary doctor is necessary 28 weeks after administering treatment for ear mites infestation. The veterinarian can now determine if there’s a need for additional treatment. Note that this medicine can only be obtained with a prescription.
Is Bravecto Plus Suitable for My Cat?
Yes. If your cat is old enough to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle and can move around, you can administer Bravecto Plus to them. It’s suitable for use for cats every 2 months and ensures your cats are safe from fleas, paralysis ticks, and heartworms throughout the year with six doses. A dose of Bravecto Plus also treats ear mites and hookworms.
Bravecto Plus is also safe for kittens 9 weeks old and above weighing at least 1.2kg.
Note, however, that the safety of the medicine hasn’t been established in pregnant or lactating animals, so use in pregnant cats isn’t recommended.
Calendrier de dosage
Bravecto Plus is usually administered topically as a single dose once every 2 months to provide a minimum dose of 18.2mg/dl (40mg/kg) fluralaner and 0.9 mg/dl (2 mg/kg) moxidectin.
The dosage schedule depends a great deal on the weight of the cat. The frequency of administration depends on the kind of infestation being addressed. For heartworm disease, Bravecto Plus should be administered once every 2 months. For fleas, it provides protection every 3 months.
Within each body range, administer only one whole pipette content. For cats that weigh over 12.5kg, using the table, use a combination of two pipettes that closely matches the body weight.
